(June 2023) One of this year’s recipients of the Robert Starling Music Scholarship sponsored by the Panamerican-Panafrican Association, was the distinguished choral conductor, Ebenezer A. Allotey, Founder and Artistic Director of the Tema Choir USA.

The PaPa sponsored Conductor Allotey’s attendance at the Chorus America Conference held at the InterContinental Hotel in San Francisco, CA from May, 31 to June 2, 2023. The Conference provided an opportunity for choral leaders from the US, Canada and beyond to explore the most timely and relevant topics facing the field and their organizations.

It was also an occasion to celebrate the choral field, which includes the fabulous Tema Choir, which continues to inspire the local community with their high-spirited concerts and eclectic programming.

The Woodbridge, VA-based community choir takes its roots from the well-known Ghanaian choral music group, Tema Youth Choir. Tema Choir USA was founded to sustain and build upon its sister choir’s traditions in the US.

The PaPa executive staff hopes that the three days of inspiring sessions, thoughtful conversations and vibrant performances at the Chorus America Conference, will help Conductor Allotey take the Tema Choir to new heights.
